白羽さんはたまに言葉をとちりながら早口で咳き続けている。
「この店ってほんと底辺の奴らばっかですよね。コンビニなんてどこでもそうですけど、旦那の収入だけじゃやっていけない主婦に、大した将来設計もないフリーたー、大学生も、家庭教師みたいな割のいいバイドができない底辺大学生ばっかりだし、あとは出稼ぎの外人、ほんと、底辺ばっかりだ。」
「なるほど」
「まるで私みたいだ、人間っぱい言葉を発しているけれど、何も喋っていない。ども使っている。菅原さんが、サポリタイだけなのに言い訳ばっかりやたらと口が回って、そこがますますキモい」と言っていたことを思い出しながら、私はしらはさんの言葉に適当に頷いていた。
「白羽さんは、どうしてここで働き始めたんですか？」
素朴な質問が浮かんだ飲んで聞いてみると、白羽さんは、「結婚ですよ」とこともなげに答えた。

"This store is full of bottom-feeders, isn't it? It's the same at any convenience store. Housewives who can't make ends meet with just their husband's income, freelancers with no real future plans, university students, and bottom-tier university students who can't even get part-time jobs as private tutors. And then there are the foreign workers here to earn a living. Seriously, it's all just bottom-feeders."

"Just like me, talking like a normal person but not saying anything. Stuttering. I remember what Sugawara-san said, how even though she's just a supporter, she keeps making excuses and talking way too much, and that's even creepier. I was nodding along to Shiraha-san's words while thinking about that."
「白羽さんは、どうしてここで働き始めたんですか？」
"Why did you start working here, Shiraha-san?"
素朴な質問が浮かんだ飲んで聞いてみると、白羽さんは、「結婚ですよ」とこともなげに答えた。
A simple question came to my mind, so I asked casually. Shiraha-san responded nonchalantly, "It's because of marriage."
