そんなことを考えないがら、私は菅原さんの喋り方で頷いた。
「はい、大丈夫です！早く新しい人入ってくれるといいですね！」
「うーん、募集かけたり、夕勤の子に友達でバイト探してる子いないか声かけたりしてるんだけどねー！
昼勤は古倉さんが週５で入れるから助かるわー」
人手不足のコンビニでは、「何もなく不可もなく、とにかく店員としてみせに存在する」と言うことがとでも喜ばれることがある。私は泉さんや菅原さんに比べると優秀な店員ではないが、無遅刻無欠勤でとにかく毎日くると言うことだけは誰にも負けないため、良い部品として扱われていた。
その時ドアの向こうから、「あのう。。。。」とか細い声がした。
「あ、白羽さん？入って！俺、３０分前に出勤するように言わなかった？遅刻だよー！」
店員の声に静かにドアが開き、１８０cmはゆうに超えるだろう、ひょろりと背の高い、針金のハンガーみたいな男性が俯きながら入ってきた。
自分自身が針金みたいなのに銀色の針金が顔に絡み付いたような眼鏡をかけている。白いシャツに黒いズボンと言う店のルールを守った服装だが、痩せすぎてい（４８）てシャツのサイズが合っておらず、手首が見えているのに腹のあたりには不自然に皺が寄っていた。
そんなことを考えながら、私は菅原さんの喋り方で頷いた。
While not thinking about such things, I nodded in response to Mr. Sugawara's way of speaking.
