「あら、夜中もやってるの？朝も？」
「はい」
私が頷くと、女性は「便利ねえ。私ははら、腰が曲がって歩くのが大変だから。スーパーが違くて困って他のよ」と私に微笑みかけた。
「はい、これからは、２４時間営業でオープンしております。どうそいつでもご利用ください！」
横にいた社員の言葉をそのまま、私は操り返した。

社員の真似をして、勢いよくお辞儀をした私に、女性は笑って「ありがとうね、またきます」と言い、レジから走って行った。
横で、立って袋詰めをしていた社員が満足そうに頷いた。
「古倉さん、すごいね、完璧！初めてのレジなのに落ち着いてたね！その調子、その調子！ほら、次のお客様！」
