私は二人の様子に衝撃を受けていた。コンビニ店員にとって、いつも１３０円のからあげ棒が１１０円のサールになるということより、店員と先店員のゴシップの方が優先されるなんてありえないことだ。二人ともどうしてしまったのだろう。
私が血相を変えてからあげ棒を抱えて走っているのに気が付いたのか、トウアンくんがこちらへきて半分持ってくれて、「スゴイ、これ全部作りマス力？」と、少しだけカタコトの日本語で言ってくれた。
「そうだよ。今日からサールなの。店の目票は１００本で、前かいのセールの時に９１本売れたから、今度とその達成させるんだよ。この日の為に、夕方に働いている沢口さんが、大きなPOPを作ってくれたの。それを飾って、皆で一丸となって、からあげ棒を売るんだよ。それが今、このお店で一番大切なことなんだよ」
言いながら何故か涙ぐみそうになってしまい、トウアン君は早口の私の日本語が全部は聞き取れなかったらしく、「イチガン？」と首をかしげた。
「みんなが一つになって頑張るってことだよ！トウアン君、これ、全部今すぐ作って！」
私の言葉に、トウアン君は、「これはゼンブ！大変デスね！」と頷いてくれて、（１２０）おぼつかない手付きでからあげ棒を作り始めてくれた。

I was shocked by the two of them. For convenience store employees, it's unimaginable that gossip between employees and assistant managers would take precedence over the fact that the usual 130-yen chicken skewers are now on sale for 110 yen. I wonder what happened to both of them.
私が血相を変えてからあげ棒を抱えて走っているのに気が付いたのか、トウアンくんがこちらへきて半分持ってくれて、「スゴイ、これ全部作りマス力？」と、少しだけカタコトの日本語で言ってくれた。
Perhaps noticing my frantic rush while holding chicken skewers, Toan-kun came over and held half of them. He said, "Wow, you make all of these?" in slightly broken Japanese.
「そうだよ。今日からサールなの。店の目票は１００本で、前かいのセールの時に９１本売れたから、今度とその達成させるんだよ。この日の為に、夕方に働いている沢口さんが、大きなPOPを作ってくれたの。それを飾って、皆で一丸となって、からあげ棒を売るんだよ。それが今、このお店で一番大切なことなんだよ」
"That's right. Today is the sale. The store's target is 100, and we sold 91 during the last sale, so this time we have to achieve it. For the sale Sawaguchi-san, who works in the evening, made a big promotional sign for us. We'll decorate with it and all work together to sell chicken skewers. That's the most important thing in this store right now."
言いながら何故か涙ぐみそうになってしまい、トウアン君は早口の私の日本語が全部は聞き取れなかったらしく、「イチガン？」と首をかしげた。
While saying this, I somehow felt like I was about to cry for some reason. Toan-kun seemed unable to catch all of my fast-paced Japanese and asked, "Ichigan?" while tilting his head.
「みんなが一つになって頑張るってことだよ！トウアン君、これ、全部今すぐ作って！」
"It means everyone coming together and working hard! Toan-kun, make all of these right now!"
私の言葉に、トウアン君は、「これはゼンブ！大変デスね！」と頷いてくれて、（１２０）おぼつかない手付きでからあげ棒を作り始めてくれた。
In response to my words, Toan-kun nodded and said, "I'll make all of them! It's quite challenging!" He started making the chicken skewers with uncertain hands.
