「それは、苦しいですね」
「あんたの子宮だってね、ムラのものなんですよ。使い物にならないから見向きもされないだけだ。僕は一世何もしたくない。一生、死ぬまで、誰にも干渉されずにただ息をしていた。それだけを望んでいるんだ。」
白羽さんは祈るように、両手を組み合わせた。
私は、白羽さんの存在が自分にとって有益かどうか考えていた。母は妹も、そして私も、治らない私に渡れはじめていた。変化が訪ねるなら、悪くても良くても今よりマシなような気がした。
「私には白羽さんほどの苦しみはないかもしれませんが、今のままだとコンビニで働きづらいのも事実です。新しい店長に、いつも、なんでバイトしかしたことないのか聞かれるし、言い訳をしないと不審がらレテしまうんですよね。ちょっうど、いい言い訳を探していたところではあったんです。白羽さんがそれなのかは知りませんが」
「僕さえここにいれば世間は納得しますよ。あなたにとってメリットしかない取引だ」

I don't know if Shiraha-san is that excuse."
